Philosopher’s Book Club

Do Your Vices Outweigh Your Virtues?

Book Club Session 001 begins with an exploration of Virtue Ethics. We will be getting grips with the work of Aristotle and finding out why Virtue Ethics saw a resurgence in the 1970s. But what is virtue without vice? and can our vices ever help us to flourish?

We will be relating Virtue and Vice to our carefully selected novel ‘A Fraction of the Whole’ by Steve Toltz. This is a story of the complicated relationship between a father and son as they tackle life’s complexities. Toltz’s writing is endlessly charming despite the gritty nature of his story.

Maybe you’re an avid reader or haven’t picked up a book in years, maybe you’ve studied some Philosophy before or are just simply curious, either way we’d love to have you join us.

Sessions will be fun and friendly with a chance to meet new people and look at some amazing literature from an new perspective.
